FAQ About Us
What do Dr. Jones and Dr. Cho do?
Dr. Michael Jones and Dr. Jai Cho practice complete, health-focused dentistry in Newport Beach. Both doctors are trained in occlusion and experienced in cosmetic, implant, and clear aligner (Invisalign) dentistry. Their approach is to create smiles that not only look natural, but also function in harmony with the joints, muscles, gums, and teeth over time.
What do you mean by a “risk-based” or “complete, interdisciplinary” approach?
Rather than treating only the immediate symptom, we look at five key areas: breathing and airway, gum and bone health, tooth strength, the way your bite and jaw joints function, and how your teeth and smile fit your face. We explain whether your risk is low, moderate, or high in each area, and then talk through options—from simple short-term solutions to plans that address underlying causes and lower risk over time.
Why do I need to see the dentist regularly?
If you want your teeth and gums to stay healthy for years, regular checkups are essential. Many problems start small and painless. Seeing us at recommended intervals allows us to monitor your individual risk, catch changes early, and make a plan before issues become painful, more complicated, or more expensive to treat.
Why should I see a dentist when there is no pain?
Pain is usually a late sign. Cavities, cracks, gum disease, bite problems, and even issues related to airway or jaw joints can progress quietly for a long time. During a comprehensive exam, we use careful clinical evaluation, X-rays, and other technologies to look beneath the surface, assess your risk in key areas, and discuss options before things escalate.
How often should I brush and floss?
In general, most people should brush at least twice a day and clean between the teeth once a day with floss or other recommended tools. Some higher-risk patients may benefit from additional home care. We also often recommend aids like a Waterpik to help reduce plaque and inflammation around the teeth and gums. At your visit, we tailor home-care recommendations to your specific risk level instead of giving everyone the exact same routine.
What should I look for when choosing a dentist in Newport Beach, CA?
Look for a team that is experienced, takes the time to understand your goals, and uses a comprehensive, evidence-based approach rather than offering one-size-fits-all dentistry. Dr. Jones has been serving the Newport Beach community since 1996 with a reputation for high-quality family and cosmetic care. Dr. Cho brings additional training as a Kois Center Graduate with Honors and a focus on risk assessment, implants, and long-term planning. Together, our goal is to help you understand your options and maintain a healthy, confident smile for life.
